Clanfield is a village and civil parish about 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Carterton, Oxfordshire and about 2.5 miles west of Bampton on the A4095 Faringdon to Witney road. The parish is home to approximately 880 residents and sustains excellent amenities. We have an excellent primary school, St Stephen's Church, a Village Hall, The Double Red Duke Hotel, a Pub,-The Clanfield Tavern, a Post Office and Shop, several businesses and a village magazine, The Clanfield What?.
The parish includes the hamlet of Little Clanfield 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the village, on Little Clanfield Brook which forms the parish's western boundary. The parish's eastern boundary is Black Bourton Brook. The south east corner of the parish follows the River Thames but the southern boundary is then separated from it by the parish of Grafton and Radcot.
Clanfield is a very pretty traditional West Oxfordshire village, particularly so on Spring days when daffodils bring a cheerful touch of colour to the banks of Clanfield Brook and the two village greens. The Clanfield Brook is spanned by a number of small stone bridges and runs through the village parallel to the main road. A path between both village greens follows The Clanfield Brook passing under weeping willow trees.
